Three separate
series have been published in conjunction with County Federation
of Women’s Institutes: The Villages of Britain Series, Within Living
Memory Series and the Millennium Series. Members have turned out
their attics and family albums to produce the Millennium Series
– books of photographs covering the whole of the 20th
century series.
In Spring ’99, a new series of walking guides was published themed
around water – the sea, rivers, dykes and canals. Each walk includes
at least one stretch of water along its circular route.
Our village walk
series highlights the variety and beauty of England’s villages from
Bedfordshire to West Yorkshire. The teashop walks series is a rapidly
expanding series of regional walking books based on good local teashops.
Each volume contains 20 circular walks of varying length.
Other
series include: Airfield – county books about Britain’s airfields
in the Second World War; Smuggling – books dedicated to the history
of smugglers 1700-1850 and to the legendary characters who took
part in this illicit trade; In colour – affectionate portraits of
the English counties in full colour with text by a well-known local
historian; Privie – a nostalgic trip down the garden path to the
loos of yesteryear. The books in this series mix informative details
with hilarious anecdotes
